Why combine military strategy into business strategy? The history of strategy originates from a military background, and there are notable similarities with business strategy, although they are applied differently in each context. Military strategy focuses on tactics, force, and gaining an advantage over an enemy.
A definition by Carl Von Clausewitz states that 'strategy is the use of engagement for the purpose of war.' From our perspective, 'strategy is the execution and development of resources and capabilities that support the achievement of organizational intentions, leading to superior operational expansion.'
It makes sense to consider combat as having a strategic, operational, and tactical level; all forces, regardless of type, behave tactically to contribute to a net strategic effect. This is where consultancy services, particularly strategy consultancy, can provide valuable insights, helping businesses leverage military strategy principles to enhance their own strategic planning.
