A commitment by Strategic UK Group to develop capability for business start-up for specific groups: Young People, Women, Ethnic Minority, Disability. Our commitment is to understand the needs, requirements of business start-up to overcome barriers face by start-ups in the United Kingdom.
Through this commitment will develop capability to deliver our New Business Start-up Programme to support the needs of target groups to overcome barriers starting a new business. Our New Business Start-up Programme can adapt to the needs of targets groups keen to starting a business.
This Commitment will focus on identified themes and recommendation published on Women, Ethnic Minority, and Disability, and Young People. There is a theme that strikes out from the publications in which each target group require support and education:
1. Learning and development of fundamental business. Online learning on fundamental business and financial literacy.
2. Support and network with other new start-up business owners.
3. A go to platform for start-up business to have access to knowledge and resource on business topics.
4. Mentor and Partner support during the start-up business journey.
5. Professional service access to Legal, Accounting, and other services.
Strategic UK Group launched a resource site Strategic HUB that hosts the New Business Start-up Programme and different business HUB.
Programme will run for a duration of 24 months.
During the 24 months the new business owner will be supported through the set-up process of their business. The programme will provide practical, genuine support in core start-up areas. This programme is looking for authentic, innovative, enthusiastic, start-up business owners who can commit time, effort, drive to starting up a new business from the bottom up.
Programme will help and support a total of 20 from each of the target groups in the categories listed. During the 24-month programme targeted groups will receive a deep dive support into overcoming barriers to starting their own business.
Strategic UK Group is doing a Business Start-up Engagement for Young People, Women, Ethnic Minority, and Disability groups.
Strategic UK Group business start-up engagement is being carried out because research done by “Ideas Mean Business”, “The Alison Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship”, and “Disability and Entrepreneurship”, Time to Change: A Blueprint for Advancing the UK's Ethnic Minority Business brings light to recommendations and themes that target groups Strategic UK Group is keen to support during their business start-up journey. These published reports give an insight for the development of our New Business Start-up Programme which aims to help specific groups in a phased approached to starting up a business.

Women:
· Women are less likely to believe they possess entrepreneurial skills.
Young People:
· Young people feel they would need a lot of support to start their own business.
Disability:
· 84% of founders feel that they don’t have access to the same opportunities and resources as non-disability founder.
Ethnic Minority:
· Increasing the growth of EMBs requires quality support that meets specific needs of EMB communities.
